Article: H.G. Wells Society International Conference 2016

The annual conference, this year held in Woking, England was a marvellous gathering, bringing together a panel of experts and enthusiast all under one roof, at the H.G. Wells Conference Centre, celebrating the works of this great man.

There is currently, an art exhibition displaying over 26 portraits from the Wells War of the Worlds “A visual Celebration”. The art exhibition originally held in the Lightbox Woking, which exhibits the designs of local artists and among the collection are the original pieces by winning artists David Dragon and Neville Godwin. The art is on display until further notice in the Griffin Room at the H.G. Wells Conference Centre, and well worth a visit, to recreate the imagination of one of the most celebrated novelist of the last century. H.G. Wells was a man with a genius mind reaching scientific dimensions far ahead of his time.

The Event started on Friday evening with an AGM registration meeting, plus networking and mingling, with a drinks reception in the Griffin Room. Saturday continued the conference with a full day of break out sessions and various group discussions. The day was completed with a celebratory delicious three course dinner served with fine wines in the Kemp Room. The dinner was followed by speeches and awards and further networking, discussions and friendship building.

The conference drew to a close on Sunday 10th July 2016, with panel discussions, debates and tributes to this great novelist, social commentator and a political speaker.

We are very proud to have hosted this particular conference, here at the H.G. Wells Conference Centre, taking our place in the local history of Woking.
