Woking Means Business is the recognised annual meeting place for hundreds of small and medium sized businesses in and around Woking.
Located in the heart of Woking, H G Wells offers over 900m² of exhibition space across two floors, making us one of the largest exhibition venues in Surrey. Our versatile venue is ideal for events such as this, as our different room combinations make it possible for delegates to attend a choice of seminars in the Kemp Room, whilst at the same time others could visit the exhibitors’ stands in the main Wells Room.
There were almost 60 Exhibitors and around 550 attendees in total. Woking Chamber of Commerce were delighted to have the sponsorship of Woking Borough Council, and media sponsorship from Eagle Radio and Woking News & Mail. Support from the HG Wells team was excellent as ever!
The day began at 7:30am with a Woking Borough Council Breakfast Forum for 120 delegates held in the Kemp Room. Council leaders discussed the progress of the impressive town redevelopment; updating attendees on the major changes to roads, shops and offices in Woking.
The Kemp Room was later used for five free informative and inspiring seminars on various aspects of marketing, along with presentations in line with a Health and Wellbeing theme. Following lunchbreak there was a speed networking event, and at the end of the day, a free drinks reception on the Woking Chamber stand and the opportunity to network with local business owners, managers and residents.
At the Exhibition delegates could visit the Health & Wellbeing Area, with exhibitors offering a range of services designed to keep you fit and healthy, plus stands with local companies promoting everything from cars, gyms, hotels, food and wine to printers, business estates, florists, promotional merchandise, commercial property agents, accountants and so much more.
All exhibitors were provided with a shell scheme stand, complete with 2.44m (8ft) high walls, covered in a light grey fabric to place display material on, plus a blue fascia with white panel name board and stand number and a 5ft florescent light behind the fascia. Exhibitors displayed a wide range of fascinating and useful products and services designed to help you or your business.
The event is attended by Council leaders, business leaders, charities and many others. The atmosphere is friendly, infectious and the networking is fantastic.

Woking football club took a stand at the Woking Means Business Expo on 17 October. There were several representatives from the club in attendance including our manager Alan Dowson and Martin Tyler, the Sky sports commentator and assistant manager of the team. We all felt that the event was very well run, and Paul Webster (Webster Consultancy) was always at hand to solve any queries leading up to, and during the event - which was great. We met with and spoke to many businesses and are already setting up further meetings for collaborations with them. This was a great event for linking up with local organisations and we have no doubt that we will achieve what we wanted out of the day.
