H G Wells has been home for the Welcome Church (formerly Coign) for many years while they build a new Church in Woking.  Welcome is a Christian Church and has been in Woking since 1879.   H G Wells has been their exclusive base every Sunday morning with the first service starting at 9am followed by another at 11am. Each meeting has a congregation of up to 350 worshippers and everybody is welcome.  H G Wells offers easy access for people with disabilities, with a lift to the second floor, a ramp to the Wells room for wheelchair users and disabled toilets on all levels.  Hearing loops are also available for the hard of hearing.

Welcome held a special service this Easter Sunday to celebrate Jesus Christ's resurrection after his crucifixion, and the congregation was even larger than usual.

Our Wells Room is set up for 350 worshippers surrounding the stage.  The hall is equipped with comfortable chairs and 4 large screens where song words and notices are projected.  The service usually begins with a short welcome from the leader that day. The main part of the meeting is then divided into a time of worship, led by a modern band who use our powerful built in sound system, followed by Bible teaching from one of the leaders.

Children can meet in the Kemp Room for a range of age-related activities for the whole or part of the meeting time.  There are separate activities for children from birth up to young adult that run for the whole morning.

Between the worship and the teaching, the meeting leader gives information about upcoming events and share any other news.

After the meeting, enjoy complimentary tea and coffee which is served from tables at the side of the Wells Room. This is a great time to say hello to other people or meet one of their leaders. Also, Welcome cover your parking too, if you bring your car parking ticket with you, you can validate it in our ticket machine in reception after the meeting and your parking will be free.

Access to HG Wells Conference is very convenient, either by footbridge from Victoria Road Car Park (level 4), or, if you’re walking, there’s an entrance at ground level on Church Street East.  At both entrances someone from the Welcome Team are usually there to help and direct.

I wasn’t sure where to go, but I was met in the car park by someone in a Welcome T-shirt and shown the way. Loads of people greeted me and made me feel very welcome. Lois
