Young Enterprise South East are committed to working with local schools, businesses and volunteers to inspire and equip thousands of young people each year to learn and succeed through enterprise.  They work to ensure that young people grow up with life skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the challenging world of work.

We were delighted to that Young Enterprise South East chose H G Wells as the venue to hold their Ceremony and Prize Giving Final in June this year. Our venue is easily accessible; a five minute walk from Woking train station and just 26 minutes by train from London.  We are also convenient for the M25 & M3 motorways with plenty of parking in the adjacent Victoria Way car park, we were ideally situated for the students and parents coming from all over the South East of England.

The perfect room for this large event was our Wells Room.  Its versatile, modern space comes complete with a stage, bar, sophisticated lighting rig, high ceiling and a powerful sound system.

The seating was set up theatre style for the audience of parents, teaching staff and other guests of the 10 teams of finalist schools.  These finalists had been invited to compete against one another for the overall prize.  The students, all aged between 16 and 18 were tasked with promoting their business ideas and each had a stall where they could display and present their ideas to the judges.

Our operations staff had set up the Wells Room the previous day, so that when the organisers arrived early on the morning they could rehearse their speeches and presentations and the judging could begin at 10am.  Students were also invited to present their marketable item or idea to the audience and judges on a sub stage, using our in house lecterns and mics, before the judges selected the overall prize winning team.

Lunch was served in our adjacent Griffin Room, it is carpeted throughout with a warm décor, and works well in conjunction with the Wells Room for lunches and refreshment breaks.  A bespoke finger buffet lunch of delicious hot foods including mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, mini fish & chips and arancini with tomato fondue, and tartlettes with a vast selection sandwiches was served, all freshly prepared on site by our in-house team of talented chefs.

Following lunch the prize giving ceremony was held in the Wells Room, followed by post event drinks at our fully stocked Griffin Bar which offers a wide range of draught and bottled beers, champagnes, wines, ciders, spirits and mixers.

The event ran like clockwork and the organisers were thrilled with our state of the art facilities, enormous space, service and exquisite catering.

I just wanted to offer a massive thank you to ALL the team at HG Wells for looking after all of us on Wednesday. Feedback about the venue and the event has all been so positive.

It was a joyous day for all concerned, especially the young people many of whom had travelled there from far and wide.

Please can you extend our thanks and appreciation to all those involved. Everyone there was so helpful and willing to help.
