Deciding where to host a wake is a big decision. You not only need a suitable space and catering, but the reassurance of an events team that are not only professional, but also sympathetic and supportive.

At H.G. Wells Conference & Events Centre, we have over 25 years experience in running private events such as wakes. We will work with you to ensure all of your requirements are handled both efficiently and sensitively. Although a wake is a celebration of a loved-one's life, we realise that it needs to be managed discretely and respectfully; allowing the family of the deceased to pay their respects in whatever way they feel to be most appropriate.

Let us look after the details
Hosting a wake is a big responsibility, and one that we take very seriously. The booking process is extremely simple and you will be assigned an Event Planner and Event Manager who will look after every detail. They will listen to your requests and ensure that everything is just right – the right table settings, flowers, catering, drinks, music… whatever your wishes.

Griffin Room
The Griffin Room is an intimate and tranquil setting for up to 150 guests. It has a very relaxed and comfortable feel – ideal for a finger buffet lunch, afternoon tea, or a drinks reception.

Our experienced, in-house catering team offer a range of menus, with options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements.

Wherever possible, we use locally sourced, seasonal produce from carefully selected suppliers. If you have any special requests, just talk to your Event Manager – we'll always do our best to help.

Our professional events team will work with you at every stage to ensure everything runs smoothly. You will be assigned a dedicated Event Manager and Assistant Event Manager who will personally see to every possible detail and will be available to confer with at all times.
