Woking District Rotary Prestige Lecture “Bloodhound” The Mission to Break the Land Speed Record
Woking District Rotary Club is proud to host an evening “Bloodhound - The Mission to Break The Land Speed Record” for anyone interested in cars and speed on Wednesday 25th July 2018.
The evening promises to be entertaining and informative with an audio-visual presentation by Richard Noble OBE, Director of the Bloodhound Project. Richard was the holder of the land speed record between 1983 and 1997 and was also the project director of ThrustSSC (a jet car), driven by Andy Green, who broke the sound barrier and set a new record of 763.035mph at the Black Rock desert in 1997.
Bloodhound is a complete reinvention of supersonic driving, incorporating a Rolls-Royce jet engine, a Nammo rocket and a supercharged Jaguar V8 power unit. It has a full carbon fibre tub and a full three TV screen display. Hopefully this will whet your appetite to hear about the upcoming attempt first hand!
Doors and bar opens at 7pm, book signing at 7.15pm and the event starts at 8pm. After the presentation there will be a brief auction of a few items.
Tickets are priced at £20 for adults and £10 for students (under 18). Please call our box office Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm on 01483 712710.
The proceeds are going to local charities, which have included disadvantaged children, the disabled, people with learning issues, adults and teenage homeless, those in abusive relationships, people struggling with running their affairs and many others.
